Integrated Pest Management (IPM) is a science-based, systematic approach to pest control that moves away from routine, calendar-based chemical applications and instead focuses on understanding pest behaviour, removing the conditions that allow pests to thrive, and intervening with targeted treatments only when monitoring data indicates they are necessary.
IPM is the approach required by BRC Global Standards Issue 9, the Red Tractor Farm Assurance standard and an increasing number of retail and food service procurement specifications. For food businesses, care homes and housing associations, an IPM plan is no longer optional — it is a fundamental compliance requirement.

- Monitoring — systematic use of monitoring devices, pheromone traps, rodent bait stations and EFK catch trays to detect pest activity at the earliest possible stage
- Identification — accurate identification of pest species, infestation extent and access routes before any treatment is applied
- Intervention — targeted, proportionate treatment using the most appropriate method for the pest, the environment and the compliance requirements of the site
